  • The wind farm will be powered by 42 of GE Vernova’s 6.1 MW–158m workhorse wind turbines
  • This marks the second major agreement in Romania within the past two months
  • The initiative demonstrates how wind energy can contribute to Romania’s objective of expanding renewable energy capacity

BUCHAREST, Romania (December 4, 2025) – GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE: GEV) has reached a contract with Greenvolt Power, a division of the Greenvolt Group renowned for its 100% renewable energy focus, to provide, set up, and commission 42 of its 6.1 MW–158m* onshore wind turbines for the Gurbanesti wind farm in Călărași County, Romania.

This announcement follows a prior agreement where GE Vernova committed to delivering 42 turbines for the Ialomiţa wind farm in Romania. Combined, these two ventures will generate around 500 MW, aiding Romania’s mission to substantially increase renewable energy adoption by 2030.

The Gurbanesti project was finalized in the fourth quarter of 2025, with turbine deliveries set to commence in 2026.

These initiatives substantially boost Greenvolt’s wind energy capacity throughout Europe. During peak construction phases, the wind farms will sustain hundreds of full-time positions and produce sufficient electricity to supply approximately 110,000 Romanian households annually.

Gilan Sabatier, Chief Commercial Officer for GE Vernova’s Onshore Wind business in International Markets, stated, “We’re delighted to continue our collaboration with Greenvolt in advancing renewable energy deployment both in Romania and internationally. Coupled with our previous announcement regarding a comparably sized Romanian wind project, this latest agreement underscores the significant value our reliable turbine models offer to clients in Romania and throughout Europe.”

GE Vernova maintains a global installed fleet of approximately 57,000 turbines, representing nearly 120 GW of capacity. With a two-decade track record of customer support, the company provides advanced high-capacity turbines that facilitate large-scale decarbonization by delivering premium, cost-effective, and sustainable renewable energy solutions.
