CAIRO, EGYPT – (September 23, 2026) – GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE: GEV) has announced a new services agreement to deliver Rotor Life Extension (RLE) solutions for five GE Vernova 9F gas turbines located at the Kureimat, Nubaria, and Cairo North power plants in Egypt. The agreement, approved by the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC), is executed in collaboration with its affiliated entities: Upper Egypt Electricity Production Company (UEEPC), Middle Delta Electricity Production Company (MDEPC), and Cairo Electricity Production Company (CEPC).
Under the terms of the agreement, GE Vernova will support the extension of operational life for the five gas turbines—representing a total capacity of approximately 1,250 MW—by 13 to 15 years. The services are scheduled for implementation between 2028 and 2035.
The gas turbine rotor is a critical rotating element within power generation systems that requires periodic inspection and maintenance. This project leverages GE Vernova’s technical expertise to assess the remaining useful life of rotor components, enabling optimized performance, improved efficiency, and extended service life.
This agreement reinforces the enduring partnership between GE Vernova, EEHC, and its power generation affiliates. By prioritizing the long-term integrity of key gas power assets, the initiative is designed to enhance the stability, efficiency, and sustainability of Egypt’s electricity supply.
“This agreement reflects EEHC’s ongoing commitment to maintaining the long-term reliability and performance of critical power generation assets across our network,” said Eng. Gaber El-Desouki, Chairman of the Board of Directors & CEO, Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC). “Through our collaboration with GE Vernova and our generation companies, we are implementing proactive measures to safeguard vital infrastructure, ensure dependable power delivery, and advance Egypt’s national energy goals.”
“Extending the service life of these gas turbines across our generation companies is expected to enhance grid stability and ensure continued access to dispatchable power, while maximizing the value of existing assets and avoiding early, capital-intensive replacements,” said Eng. Mahmoud Al-Naqeeb, Full-time Board Member for Electricity Production Companies Affairs.
“As Egypt’s electricity demand continues to grow, modernizing existing gas power facilities—such as those at Kureimat, Nubaria, and Cairo North—is crucial to ensuring system reliability, optimizing fuel consumption, and strengthening energy resilience,” said Joseph Anis, President & CEO, Europe, Middle East & Africa, GE Vernova’s Gas Power business. “This agreement demonstrates our continued partnership with EEHC, its affiliates, and other key stakeholders in Egypt to advance energy security through efficient and dependable power generation. By extending the life of these critical turbines, we aim to support our customers’ long-term operational goals, enhance infrastructure value, and contribute to the evolution of Egypt’s power sector.”
The agreement expands GE Vernova’s role in supporting the modernization of Egypt’s power generation infrastructure. In April 2026, GE Vernova secured an order from MDEPC to modernize the Banha and Nubaria power plants through Advanced Gas Path upgrades and long-term service agreements. This latest initiative continues a legacy of collaboration with Egypt’s energy sector, reinforcing GE Vernova’s position as a trusted partner in delivering advanced technology and lifecycle solutions for evolving energy needs.
For over five decades, GE Vernova has contributed to Egypt’s power sector through innovative technologies, workforce development, and project financing. Today, the company supports clients across power generation, transmission, digital solutions, and service operations. GE Vernova’s installed base in Egypt includes more than 60 gas and steam turbines, collectively providing around 10 gigawatts of generating capacity.
