  • GE Vernova technology currently supports around 50% of Japan’s installed heavy-duty gas turbine capacity and 25% of its onshore wind power infrastructure.
  • The workhorse strategy emphasizes standardized, industrial-grade turbines built for consistent deployment and enduring operational reliability

TOKYO, Japan (September 15, 2026) – GE Vernova (NYSE: GEV) has announced that its Onshore Wind division has entered into an agreement* with Eurus Energy Holdings Corporation (Eurus Energy) to provide seven 4.2 MW-117m** wind turbines for the 29.4 MW Hiyamizutouge Wind Farm, located in Mutsu City and Higashidori Village, Aomori Prefecture, Japan. The contract also includes a two-year service package, with an optional two-year renewal.

Part of GE Vernova’s proven 4 MW workhorse platform—backed by over 2 million operational hours—the 4.2 MW-117m turbines are specifically designed to deliver robust, high-efficiency performance in Japan’s distinct wind environments.

“We’re proud to once again collaborate with Eurus Energy to advance the Hiyamizutouge project,” said Gilan Sabatier, Chief Commercial Officer of Onshore Wind, International Markets at GE Vernova. “Our 4 MW platform is tailored to Japan’s terrain and wind profiles, ensuring the resilience and efficiency needed to fully harness the nation’s wind energy potential. With GE Vernova technology already powering 25% of Japan’s onshore wind capacity, we’re committed to supporting the country’s clean energy transformation.”

Masaru Akiyoshi, Representative Director and Executive Vice President at Eurus Energy, stated, “We are delighted to renew our partnership with GE Vernova on another renewable energy initiative in Japan. We extend our sincere appreciation to the communities of Mutsu City and Higashidori Village, government bodies, and all stakeholders for their continued support. We look forward to jointly developing this new wind project in Aomori and advancing Japan’s renewable energy targets through our ongoing collaboration.”

This development supports Japan’s national objective of sourcing 36–38% of its electricity from renewables by 2030. On June 10, 2025, GE Vernova and Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) established a joint focus group to explore energy innovation, enhance energy security, and strengthen cooperation on key industry challenges.

The Hiyamizutouge order adds to GE Vernova’s growing presence in Japan, where the company has secured 339 MW of wind turbine orders in 2025 from a broad range of clients, including major utilities and emerging independent power producers. GE Vernova’s technologies continue to play a pivotal role in Japan’s energy mix, powering approximately half of the country’s installed heavy-duty gas turbine capacity and a quarter of its onshore wind generation.

GE Vernova’s wind portfolio is built on a strategic workhorse approach—leveraging standardized, mass-producible turbine designs engineered for repeatable project execution and long-term dependability. Drawing on experience from more than 59,000 wind turbines operating worldwide, the company integrates real-world insights into every stage of design, manufacturing, and deployment.
