Edinburgh, Scotland (September 3, 2026) – GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE: GEV) has announced a new agreement* with ESB (Electricity Supply Board) to supply 16 units of its 6.1 MW-158m** onshore wind turbines for the 96 MW Chleansaid Wind Farm located in the Scottish Highlands. The contract includes a 20-year service commitment and utilizes turbines manufactured in Germany. With over 1,800 units deployed across diverse environments and more than 38 million hours of operational data, GE Vernova’s 6 MW turbine series offers proven adaptability, durability, and long-term performance.
All turbines at the Chleansaid site will feature GE Vernova’s trusted split-blade technology, which allows projects in hard-to-reach areas to benefit from larger rotors and increased energy generation. This innovation simplifies the logistics of transporting extended blades to remote or complex terrains, optimizing both efficiency and energy yield.
This collaboration strengthens the ongoing strategic partnership between GE Vernova and ESB, contributing to the UK’s broader objectives of reducing carbon emissions and scaling up renewable energy infrastructure in Scotland. GE Vernova has previously supported ESB through its Power and Electrification divisions.
Gilan Sabatier, Chief Commercial Officer for Onshore Wind at GE Vernova in international markets, stated, “We’re proud to deepen our collaboration with ESB by delivering turbines for the Chleansaid Wind Farm. This project represents the first deployment of our 6MW workhorse turbine in the UK, building on our strong local presence and track record. By combining our reliable 6 MW platform with our proven split-blade solution, we’re helping ESB achieve maximum energy output from this site.”
Paul Lennon, Head of Renewables and member of the Scottish Renewables Board at ESB, commented, “Chleansaid is a landmark achievement for ESB as our first fully developed onshore wind project in Scotland, marking a key step toward our renewable energy goals. Partnering with GE Vernova, we’re excited to advance the project into construction and contribute to a secure, sustainable energy future.”
GE Vernova’s onshore wind portfolio is driven by a focused workhorse strategy—centered on standardized, industrial-grade turbines engineered for repeatable installation and sustained reliability. With more than 59,000 wind turbines operating worldwide, the company leverages extensive field experience to shape every aspect of its design, production, and deployment processes.
