GE Vernova Upgrades R&D Facility in Italy to Enhance Grid Reliability

NOVENTA DI PIAVE, Italy — June 30, 2026 — GE Vernova has completed the upgrade of its high-voltage research and development (R&D) laboratory at the Noventa di Piave facility near Venice, Italy. The modernized lab evaluates equipment essential for safely transporting electricity from generation sources to end users. This enhancement is part of a four-year, $7.2 million initiative aimed at reinforcing the site’s role in advancing robust, adaptable, and future-ready power grid solutions.
With rising electricity consumption and increasing integration of renewable energy into the grid, utilities require more sophisticated equipment capable of operating reliably under complex conditions. The upgraded facility allows GE Vernova to rigorously assess vital components such as transformers and disconnectors prior to their deployment in power networks.

The improvement follows sustained investments by GE Vernova across its Italian operations, including a recent over $30 million expansion of manufacturing capacity in Sesto San Giovanni.
The Noventa di Piave site operates within GE Vernova’s Electrification segment and brings more than five decades of expertise, establishing itself as a cornerstone of the company’s industrial presence in Italy. Currently employing over 300 professionals, the facility plans to onboard around 15 new team members each year in the coming years. The modernization supports long-term growth, aids in attracting top engineering talent, and reinforces its positive impact on the regional economy.
Together, GE Vernova’s facilities in Noventa di Piave and Sesto San Giovanni form a key hub of manufacturing, research, and testing excellence. These sites play a dual role: supporting Italy’s domestic energy needs while also serving export markets worldwide.
