GE Vernova has announced plans to acquire Alteia, a France-based specialist in computer vision and machine learning. The move is designed to strengthen GE Vernova’s GridOS® platform by embedding advanced visual intelligence capabilities that help utilities better understand and manage grid operations.

The acquisition supports GE Vernova’s broader strategy of integrating artificial intelligence with operational systems. By combining Alteia’s expertise in visual data processing with GridOS®, utilities will gain enhanced situational awareness and actionable insights. GridOS® already helps utilities plan and operate networks during extreme events such as storms and wildfires. Through AI-powered visual workflows, the platform can analyze imagery to assess damage, monitor vegetation near power lines, and inspect infrastructure across vast transmission networks.
