(NYSE: GEV) has announced a major contract win from Sonelgaz via their joint venture, GE Algeria Turbines (GEAT), to advance Algeria’s grid infrastructure. The order, booked in Q2 2024, entails the delivery of high-voltage (HV) equipment, components, and grid automation solutions for 134 substations by 2028. GEAT will incorporate this technology at its Ain Yagout facility in Batna, Algeria, specifically for Sonelgaz’s projects.

This contract follows a recent agreement between Sonelgaz and GE Vernova to diversify GEAT’s operations toward producing high and extra-high voltage substation equipment, marking a significant milestone in their collaboration. The supplied technology will be instrumental in integrating renewable energy sources and ensuring a dependable power supply for Algeria’s expanding population and economy.
