GE Vernova Secures Contract to Upgrade Critical Power Facilities in Egypt
- Advanced Gas Path enhancements at Banha plant set to boost power output and operational efficiency
- Long-term service contracts for Banha and Nubaria facilities expected to ensure stable and efficient electricity production

CAIRO, Egypt (April 29, 2026) – GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE: GEV) has announced a new contract awarded by an affiliate of the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC), the Middle Delta Electricity Production Company (MDEPC), to upgrade power generation systems and enhance operational performance at MDEPC’s Banha and Nubaria power stations in Egypt. The order was recorded during the first quarter of 2026.
Projected to span three years, the initiative supports Egypt’s broader objectives to modernize its power infrastructure, strengthen energy security, and enhance efficiency across its electricity generation network.
The project encompasses two Advanced Gas Path (AGP) retrofits for the GE Vernova 9F gas turbines at the Banha facility, along with long-term service agreements for both Banha and Nubaria, lasting 15 and 8 years respectively.
“This upgrade underscores the transformative potential of Advanced Gas Path technology for F-class gas turbines in Egypt,” stated Eng. Mohamed El-Abd, Chairman of MDEPC. “The enhancements are projected to increase turbine output and improve efficiency by around 2 percent. These gains are expected to enable higher electricity production with optimized fuel consumption and could contribute to lower carbon emissions per megawatt-hour generated.”
