CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA (May 20, 2025) – GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE: GEV) today revealed the completion of a major modernization initiative at Sasol’s Secunda power plant in Mpumalanga, South Africa. The project involved installing advanced DLN1+ combustion technology with Fuel Gas Module (FGM) skid systems to boost performance of two 9E gas turbines while lowering carbon emissions.

This initiative sets a benchmark for power plant upgrades across Africa. With rising energy demands on the continent, such projects demonstrate how technological innovation can enhance energy production efficiency without necessitating new infrastructure.

Key outcomes from the modernization include:

The initiative will be featured at Enlit Africa, held 20-22 May at Cape Town’s CTICC. GE Vernova’s exhibition at booth C22 in Hall 3 includes interactive demonstrations and expert discussions on topics such as energy transition strategies, smart grid advancements, digital transformation in power projects, and gender diversity in energy sectors.
