WILMINGTON, North Carolina (February 19, 2026) – Global Nuclear Fuel (GNF), a GE Vernova-led partnership with Hitachi, Ltd. and an affiliate of GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GVH), together with ENUSA, announced that a new contract has been awarded to supply nuclear fuel reloads for Vattenfall’s Forsmark Nuclear Power Plant in Sweden.

The agreement has been awarded to GENUSA, a joint venture between GNF and ENUSA, and will commence in 2028. It includes multiple reloads of the GNF2 fuel design — a high-performance assembly developed to increase power output while reducing operating costs.

“With decades of experience supporting nuclear operations across the Nordic region, ENUSA has produced more than 3,500 GNF-designed fuel assemblies for Forsmark since 1993,” said Craig Ranson, Installed Base CEO of GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy and CEO of GNF. “We are pleased to continue supporting Vattenfall with reliable and efficient fuel solutions.”

Fuel for the Forsmark facility will be manufactured in Spain at ENUSA’s nuclear fuel plant in Juzbado, using key components supplied by GNF.

The supplied fuel assemblies, designed by GNF, incorporate advanced Defender™ PLUS debris filter technology, which is engineered to significantly reduce the risk of feedwater debris reaching and damaging fuel components.
