  • This marks GE Vernova’s inaugural onshore wind repowering deal beyond U.S. borders, expanding on their successful modernization of over 6,000 domestic turbines
  • The agreement was unveiled at the B20 South Africa 2025 Summit held in Johannesburg
  • The project involves supplying repower kits for 25 GE Vernova 1.5 MW-70.5m turbines and a comprehensive five-year operations and maintenance (O&M) service contract for TPC
  • This initiative will extend turbine operational life beyond initial design parameters, advancing Taiwan’s decarbonization objectives and enhancing energy security

Taiwan, (November 19, 2025) – On November 19, 2025, GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE: GEV) revealed its first international onshore wind repowering agreement outside North America, partnering with Taiwan Power Company (TPC) to deploy 25 repower kits across the island. The revelation occurred at the B20 South Africa 2025 Summit in Johannesburg, marking a significant expansion of the company’s U.S.-proven expertise, having modernized over 6,000 domestic turbines, to advance Taiwan’s clean energy transition.

The agreement entails supplying repower kits for 25 GE Vernova 1.5 MW-70.5m turbines alongside a five-year O&M service package. Secured in Q3 2025, the contract includes component deliveries commencing in Q4 2025, with retrofitting activities planned across 2026 and 2027.

Repowering allows aging turbines nearing their operational lifespan to be upgraded for enhanced reliability and efficiency. This extension of asset longevity will enable TPC to sustain cost-effective renewable energy production while optimizing existing infrastructure investments.

Uzair Memon, Chief Commercial Officer for GE Vernova’s Onshore Wind Services, stated: “This marks our initial deployment of proven repowering solutions beyond North America,”. “Collaborating with TPC to advance Taiwan’s energy modernization aligns with our commitment to delivering lifecycle value through enhanced fleet performance, technological innovation, and a globally integrated supply network.”

This development supports the Energy Mix & Just Transition policy paper unveiled at the B20 Summit, advocating for accelerated energy infrastructure modernization to enhance efficiency, accessibility, and grid reliability. Roger Martella, Chief Corporate and Sustainability Officer, GE Vernova, co-chaired the paper’s development committee.
