GE Vernova expands U.S. onshore wind operations with 1.1 GW repowering contracts secured in 2025

SCHENECTADY, NY (February 5, 2026) – GE Vernova’s Onshore Wind division revealed today that 2025 saw the acquisition of 1.1 gigawatt (GW) repowering contracts for U.S. onshore wind installations. The projects will incorporate nacelles and drive trains produced domestically at GE Vernova’s Pensacola manufacturing center, which employs veterans comprising 20% of its workforce, thereby reinforcing American energy security, affordability, and domestic production capabilities.

Uzair Memon, Chief Commercial Officer for GE Vernova’s Onshore Wind Services division, stated, “These substantial repower contracts demonstrate the pivotal function our cutting-edge technology serves in optimizing current wind energy assets. Through implementation of our advanced repower solutions, clients achieve enhanced energy output, improved asset reliability, reduced operational expenditures, and extended wind farm longevity. This achievement reflects our dedication to enhancing the productivity and sustainability of existing renewable infrastructure while simultaneously strengthening U.S. manufacturing sectors and employment opportunities.”

David Hardy, GE Vernova’s Chief Commercial Officer for Wind, emphasized, “Repowering initiatives allow us to modernize wind farms, boosting annual energy generation, operational lifespan, and project efficiency. All contracts were finalized during 2025. The repowering initiatives are projected to achieve commercial operation between 2026 and 2027. Technical advantages of turbine repowering include enhanced component size, increased energy output, and prolonged operational longevity for optimized renewable energy capture.
