  • GE Vernova’s Wind division has agreed to deliver three additional onshore wind turbines to BBWind
  • Projects will feature GE Vernova’s 6.0 MW-164m high-capacity turbines
  • Agreements utilize GE Vernova’s production capabilities in Salzbergen

COPENHAGEN, DENMARK (April 9, 2025) – GE Vernova’s Wind business unit revealed today it has executed agreements to supply three 6.0 MW-164m* advanced wind turbines to community-based wind energy projects managed by BBWind. The Muenster-based German developer specializes in regional renewable energy initiatives. This marks the 20th joint venture between the two entities for BBWind’s development pipeline.

Secured during Q1 2025, these contracts will facilitate the installation of a 12 MW dual-turbine installation in Heiden and a 6 MW single-turbine facility in Dorsten, both located in Germany’s North Rhine-Westphalia region.

With a 70,000-square-meter production hub in Salzbergen, GE Vernova’s Wind segment maintains significant manufacturing capabilities in Germany, producing critical components including nacelles, drivetrains, and hubs for its European and global clientele.

In 2024, Germany commissioned 3.2 GW of onshore wind capacity, aligning with national strategies to achieve 80% renewable electricity generation by 2030 through accelerated wind energy deployment.

Gilan Sabatier, GE Vernova’s Chief Commercial Officer for international onshore wind operations stated, “We’re proud to partner with BBWind in advancing community-driven renewable projects near our Salzbergen manufacturing center. Our high-capacity turbines perfectly match Germany’s expanding onshore wind requirements, and our Salzbergen workforce stands prepared to bolster the nation’s clean energy objectives.”

Michael Schluess, BBWind’s Chief Executive Officer commented, “Our longstanding partnership with GE Vernova has proven instrumental in realizing locally-owned wind projects for our clients. Having successfully completed or underway 20 joint projects, we anticipate extending this productive collaboration into future developments.”

Operating over 57,000 wind turbines globally with 120 GW of installed capacity, GE Vernova’s Wind segment delivers next-generation high-output turbines designed to advance decarbonization through cost-effective, sustainable energy solutions.
