  • NINVA™ Integrated, NINVA™ Remote, and NINVA™ Compact meet specific requirements in sectors prioritizing safety and precision
  • New offerings enable simplified and secure temperature monitoring for oil & gas, chemical, marine, and energy applications
  • NINVA installs directly on piping systems without requiring modifications or system interruptions

ABB has broadened its NINVA™ line of non-invasive temperature measurement solutions with three new variants: NINVA™ Integrated, NINVA™ Remote, and NINVA™ Compact. These innovations target specific operational demands in critical industries including oil & gas, chemical processing, energy generation, and maritime operations. The solutions empower operators to maintain precise process control, minimize unplanned maintenance activities, and comply with site-specific and regulatory standards.

Designed to clamp onto pipe exteriors, NINVA eliminates the need for cutting, welding, or maintaining traditional invasive thermowells. By utilizing pipe surface temperature readings to determine process temperatures, the technology achieves equivalent accuracy and performance to invasive methods while removing installation and maintenance complexities.

Offering reduced engineering expenses and lower material, inspection, and installation costs compared to conventional thermowells, NINVA provides enhanced cost-efficiency. Implementation of NINVA solutions can reduce labor and capital expenditure requirements by up to 75%.

“The original NINVA introduction marked a revolutionary shift in process temperature monitoring,” noted Jacques Mulbert, President of ABB’s Measurement & Analytics division. “As demand for sensing capabilities grows, industrial operators increasingly recognize the advantages of obtaining critical data without process interruptions or piping modifications.”

  • NINVA Integrated serves chemical and oil & gas applications. Compatible with metal piping DN15 – DN2500 (1/2” – 100″), it’s optimized for brownfield upgrades where system shutdowns and hot work pose financial challenges.
  • NINVA Remote addresses high-temperature and difficult-access environments in power & utilities, particularly steam and high-temperature gas systems (400°C+). With vibration resistance up to 2g, it integrates with ABB’s TTF300-N field-mount transmitter for flexible installation and remote display while ensuring reliable monitoring in extreme conditions.
  • Marine-certified NINVA Compact caters to space-constrained machine environments requiring dependable temperature indication. Featuring 4g vibration resistance, it operates with small piping DN15+, skid systems, and mobile assets.

In 2024, NINVA achieved recognition as the industry’s first SIL2-certified non-invasive temperature transmitter, establishing it as the most secure non-invasive temperature sensing solution available.

ABB’s Automation business optimizes industrial operations through automation, electrification, and digitalization solutions addressing essential needs – from energy and water supply to goods production and transportation.
