ATLANTA, GA – (October 23, 2025) – GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE: GEV) announced it has secured a contract with Australian independent gas producer and energy company QPM Energy Limited (QPM) to deliver two LM6000 aeroderivative gas turbine packages. These fuel-flexible units are designed to operate using QPM’s existing gas reserves as well as coal mine waste gas containing a minimum of 50% methane.
The turbines are scheduled for commissioning in mid-2027 and are expected to provide up to 112 megawatts (MW) of power at the Isaac Power Station. The project will support the continued development of QPM’s Moranbah gas assets and its broader Isaac Energy Hub (IEH) infrastructure.
“The Isaac Power Station aligns with the state government’s push for increased gas-fired generation, which remains critical for maintaining grid stability during the energy transition,” said QPM CEO David Wrench. “These flexible units from GE Vernova are well suited to meet peak demand periods, particularly in the evening when solar generation declines and household consumption rises.”
GE Vernova’s aeroderivative turbines, including the LM6000 platform, are engineered for rapid start-up and high operational flexibility. Capable of reaching full output in approximately five minutes, these units offer a ramp rate of around 30 MW per minute, enabling fast frequency response and improved grid reliability.

The LM6000 platform is widely recognized for its versatility, supporting both peaking and baseload operations as well as grid firming applications. The turbines can start and stop multiple times daily, offering operators high flexibility. With more than 1,300 units delivered globally and over 40 million operating hours, the LM6000 remains a leading solution in the 40–60 MW segment.
GE Vernova has maintained a presence in Australia for over 125 years. One of its earliest projects in the country was the electrification of the Pyrmont Bridge—among the first electrically powered bridges worldwide.
