GE Vernova Announces Commercial Launch of Jafurah Cogeneration Plant in Saudi Arabia at ADIPEC 2025

ADIPEC, Abu Dhabi, UAE (November 3, 2025) – GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE: GEV) announced the successful start of commercial operations at the Jafurah Cogeneration Independent Steam and Power Plant (ISPP) in Saudi Arabia. Located roughly 125 kilometers southeast of Dammam, the facility is designed to support operations at the Jafurah natural gas field and is expected to rank among the Kingdom’s most efficient power plants.

For the project, GE Vernova supplied a comprehensive solution that included its 7HA.01 gas turbine along with a 20-year long-term service agreement covering maintenance, technical support, and parts supply throughout the turbine lifecycle.

The cogeneration facility has been engineered to maximize energy efficiency by reusing excess heat and steam generated during electricity production. Once fully operational, the plant is expected to deliver up to 320 megawatts of electricity and approximately 314 tons of steam per hour to support natural gas production activities at Jafurah.

The Jafurah field itself is projected to become a major contributor to Saudi Arabia’s energy strategy. By 2030, the site is expected to produce up to 630,000 barrels per day of natural gas liquids and condensates, in addition to more than 420 million standard cubic feet of ethane daily.

A representative from Doosan Enerbility, the engineering, procurement, and construction contractor for the project, described the development as one of the Kingdom’s major energy initiatives and emphasized the importance of expanding domestic gas production capacity to support rising industrial and residential energy demand.

The project also represents a milestone for local manufacturing in Saudi Arabia. The 7HA.01 turbine installed at the plant became the first H-Class gas turbine completed within the Kingdom by GE Saudi Advanced Turbines (GESAT). The initiative contributed to local industrial development through job creation and expanded domestic manufacturing capabilities.

Joseph Anis, President and CEO of GE Vernova’s Gas Power business for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, said the company successfully delivered the project on schedule despite exceptionally strong global demand conditions. He added that the completion of the turbine at GESAT aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 goals by strengthening localization and advancing industrial growth within the country’s energy sector.

Established in 2017, GESAT has supported Saudi Arabia’s gas turbine requirements through localized assembly and completion of advanced F-Class and H-Class turbines, as well as manufacturing accessory modules and post-cast components.

GESAT was originally formed as a joint venture between Dussur and GE Vernova. In September 2024, GE Vernova acquired Dussur’s ownership stake to continue supporting localization, industrial diversification, talent development, and export growth initiatives under Saudi Vision 2030. The facility operates within the broader GE Manufacturing & Technology Center (GEMTEC) campus.
