Waukesha, WI – September 3, 2024 – Prolec-GE Waukesha, Inc., a division of the global energy infrastructure leader Prolec GE, has announced today the acquisition of the remaining ownership interest in Menk USA LLC. Menk USA is a prominent North American manufacturer of cooling radiators designed for power grid transformers. Prolec GE Waukesha, which has held a partial stake in Menk USA since 2002, has now secured full ownership from the Menk-Schmehmann Group based in Germany, a top-tier expert in complex tube forming, welded assemblies, and steel structures for mobile cranes. This acquisition enables Menk USA to fully integrate into Prolec GE’s product lineup, enhancing the resilience of its supply chain and improving its strategic capabilities.

Prolec GE has maintained a fruitful partnership with Menk USA for over two decades, appreciating Menk’s reliability and quality as a supplier. The decision to acquire complete ownership aligns with Prolec GE’s strategic goals to fortify critical supply chains and collaborate closely with customers and suppliers, thus enhancing the availability of essential transformer components in the U.S. market. The shareholders of Menk-Schmehmann Group expressed their gratitude for the accomplishments of the Menk USA team over the past 20 years and their enthusiasm for the opportunities this acquisition presents for both the company and its workforce.

Ricardo Suarez, CEO of Prolec GE, remarked, “This acquisition signifies another pivotal moment in our development. Menk USA has been an invaluable partner, and now, as an entirely integrated entity, we look forward to harnessing our combined strengths to foster innovation and deliver greater value to our customers. We believe this strategic decision will further establish our leadership in the industry and open up new business avenues for our company.”

Chip Donahue, CEO of Menk USA, noted, “Our collaboration with Prolec GE has been both productive and rewarding for more than 20 years. By integrating into the Prolec GE family, Menk USA is now positioned optimally to enhance service for our current customers while exploring new avenues for growth and advancement.
