ABB addresses these challenges with its new NEMA Motors Energy Savings Calculator, designed to help users understand the financial and environmental advantages of upgrading to newer, more efficient industrial motors.
The Energy Savings Calculator is an online tool that enables users to compare the energy consumption, cost, and CO₂ emissions of their current motors against ABB’s latest Baldor-Reliance® SP4™ NEMA Super Premium® efficiency motors. It offers two modes: a basic search function for catalog numbers and an advanced mode for detailed comparisons based on parameters such as power, efficiency, speed, and enclosure type. The tool provides annual savings in kilowatt-hours, energy percentage, and U.S. dollars, along with a comparison of energy use and CO₂ reduction. Both modes allow for the generation of a digital report with detailed data and graphics. The upcoming Phase 2 will introduce features for variable speed motors, multiple motor inputs, and other enhancements.
ABB Baldor-Reliance SP4 motors are designed for high efficiency, operating at lower temperatures, reducing energy losses, and extending the lifespan of components. They comply with current U.S. Department of Energy standards and upcoming Medium Electric Motor (MEM) regulations effective from June 1, 2027.
