On October 8 at WEFTEC 2024, the premier water quality event in the United States, ABB launched the UviTec™ analyzer family. UviTec serves as the successor to the optical sensor technology by Real Tech, which was acquired by ABB earlier this year.
Built on patented and proprietary technologies, UviTec represents a complete optical-based platform for water quality monitoring. It encompasses optical sensors, controllers, an array of additional accessories, and a data analytics software solution.
UviTec employs both spectrophotometric and fluorescence measurement techniques, delivering laboratory-grade water analysis results directly in the process environment. With the power of UV/VIS technology, UviTec enables fast detection of a wide range of water quality parameters and compounds in real time. The UviTec Liquid Ai data analytics platform processes these measurements, providing operators with actionable insights to enhance the management of water and wastewater across various applications.
“Traditional water quality testing can take days in laboratory conditions, but the UviTec family offers immediate critical measurements,” said Jon Penn, Global Product Line Manager for Continuous Water Analysis at ABB Measurement & Analytics. “The UviTec analyzers for biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) and chemical oxygen demand (COD) can measure organic levels in water in just five seconds, compared to five days using conventional lab testing methods. This not only saves time and money but also improves safety and operational efficiency.”
With the launch of UviTec, ABB is now able to assist customers in measuring an even broader range of water quality parameters, further strengthening its position in the water industry. In addition to the UviTec introduction at WEFTEC 2024, ABB is showcasing its continuous water analysis portfolio, electromagnetic flowmeters, pressure and laser level transmitters, as well as recorders and controllers designed for the water industry.
ABB will be present at booth 4129 in New Orleans from October 5-9.
