ABB has revealed a strategic move today, finalizing an agreement to purchase Høglund AS, a Norwegian marine automation leader based in Tønsberg. This acquisition will bolster ABB’s current automation portfolio for maritime customers while enabling expansion across diverse vessel markets. The deal is anticipated to finalize by Q3 2026, pending standard regulatory clearances, and will incorporate Høglund’s international operations spanning Norway, Poland, Romania, and China, along with over 80 employees. Currently under Eitzen Group ownership, Høglund will transition into ABB’s Marine & Ports business unit. Financial details remain confidential.

Høglund’s Integrated Automation System (IAS) operates on ABB’s 800M and S800 control system hardware infrastructure. Engineered for modern maritime requirements, this adaptable system manages onboard automation, monitoring, and control functions. By integrating data from propulsion systems, power plants, and cargo equipment, the platform enhances safety, energy efficiency, and operational effectiveness. Deployed across 600+ vessels globally, the company achieved revenues nearing €30 million in 2025.

Post-acquisition, Høglund’s clients will gain access to ABB’s extensive global network, expanded automation expertise, and enhanced service infrastructure.
