ABB has advanced its water conservation capabilities by integrating the AquaMaster4 Mobile Comms flowmeter with the Topkapi SCADA system, a move that strengthens its support for water utilities in meeting sustainability goals. This integration, made possible by a new communication driver from AREAL, the developer of Topkapi, allows AquaMaster4 to communicate directly with Topkapi through 4G and FTP/FTPS protocols.
Topkapi SCADA is a versatile, modular solution extensively used in the water and wastewater industry for managing automated processes. It plays a crucial role in district metering and monitoring non-revenue water, key elements in improving operational efficiency and reducing water loss.
ABB’s AquaMaster4 Mobile Comms flowmeter, the world’s first electromagnetic flowmeter with bidirectional connectivity, now delivers near real-time data for smarter water management. The new 4G connectivity significantly enhances data transmission, providing more detailed and accurate reports and trend analyses through Topkapi. This improved data flow enables precise monitoring of water flow, pressure, and diagnostic alarms, making it easier to manage water resources efficiently.
Krishna Prashanth, Global Product Line Manager for Electromagnetic Flowmeters at ABB Measurement & Analytics, emphasized the impact of this integration, stating, “With our extensive global base of AquaMaster4 flowmeters, this integration with Topkapi SCADA allows us to contribute even more effectively to water management efforts worldwide.”
The AquaMaster4 flowmeter, a wireless solution for continuous flow measurement, was the first of its kind to offer bidirectional connectivity, reducing power consumption by 60% and enabling faster leak detection compared to other solutions. This innovation builds on ABB’s long history in the water industry, where it is known for delivering safe, smart, and efficient solutions across the entire water cycle.
ABB’s Process Automation division, with around 20,000 employees, specializes in automating, electrifying, and digitalizing industrial operations, helping industries improve performance and safety while supporting a more sustainable and resource-efficient future.
With over 140 years of technological leadership, ABB remains at the forefront of innovation in electrification and automation, committed to driving industrial transformation on a global scale.
